Help & Support
Learn how to use PSPF Explorer effectively
🎯 What is PSPF Explorer?
PSPF Explorer transforms the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) from static documents into an interactive, engaging experience. Instead of reading through PowerPoint presentations or PDFs, you can explore security requirements dynamically and see how your work contributes to organizational security.
Who is it for? Everyone in the organization - from executives to frontline staff. This tool is designed for universal access with plain-language explanations that make complex security requirements accessible to all.
🚀 Getting Started
Start with the Home page: The six PSPF domains are displayed as interactive cards across the top. Each domain shows its current compliance status through visual indicators.
Explore domains: Click on any domain to see its specific requirements. Each requirement explains what needs to be done in practical, everyday language.
Track progress: Use the visual cues and progress indicators to understand which areas need attention and celebrate your achievements.
📊 Understanding the Structure
PSPF Explorer follows a simple hierarchy that you can navigate both top-down and bottom-up:
- Domains → Core PSPF areas (fixed structure)
- Requirements → Specific security requirements within each domain (fixed structure)
- Projects → Your work initiatives to meet requirements (you can create and manage these)
- Tasks → Specific actions within projects (you can create and manage these)
- Risks → Potential issues to track (you can create and manage these)
✅ Managing Compliance
Binary tracking: Each requirement is either met (Yes) or not met (No). All requirements start as "No" and must be manually updated to "Yes" when completed.
Adding context: Use the comment field for each requirement to add notes, context, or progress updates. Comments are hidden once a requirement is marked as complete.
Visual feedback: Your compliance progress drives the visual indicators throughout the system, giving you instant feedback on your security posture.
🎯 Working with Projects
Create projects: Go to the Projects tab to create new compliance initiatives. Projects help organize your work toward meeting specific requirements.
Manage tasks: Within each project, create tasks for specific actions that need to be completed.
Track risks: Identify and track potential issues that could impact your compliance work.
Two-column layout: The Projects page uses a list-and-details layout - select a project from the left to see its details on the right.
📈 Progress Overview
The Progress tab provides a comprehensive view of your compliance journey:
- Statistics cards: See key metrics like active projects, total tasks, completion rates, and compliance percentages
- Domain progress: Visual representation of progress across all PSPF domains
- Trends: Track how your compliance posture is improving over time
🔍 Search & Data Management
Search functionality: Use the Search tab to find specific projects, tasks, risks, or requirements across your entire dataset.
Data backup: The Data tab allows you to export your work for backup or import data from previous sessions.
Local storage: Your data is stored locally in your browser, so it persists between sessions on the same device.
